Glen Rock/Saddle Brook, BPSL
Coaches: Wayne Rogers and Chris Fox
This year we are VERY young, with most of the team freshman and sophomores, last year we had Steven Ha who placed 2nd in the district 4th in the county and 3rd in the cutter so he will definitely be missed as he was a big help to the team. we are returning Jared Schlett who placed 3rd in the district as a freshman at 160 so we are expecting big things out of him this year. Although we are young, our team is filled with enthusiastic, talented, athletic young men who are willing to learn, and also just love the sport. The upcoming freshmen will be Matt Jacobson at 103, Alex Cimiluca, 145, from Saddle Brook. Returning sophomore form Glen Rock, Al Artesona who came up big for us being his first year wrestling finished 10-9 and was able to go six minutes, he will be at 112.
This year we should also have a full line up, we would always struggle in matches because we had to forfeit 4 matches and enter every match down 24 points, hopefully this year we will be able to compete now. In filling this line up we have some big upper weights that Glen Rock is not used to, Steve Perira at 215 and Dan Lewitt will be wrestling heavy weight for us. Being a little shy in the middle weights it will an interesting season for us.
This is the fourth year that Glen Rock\Saddle Brook will be combining and the merger has been helpful so far, without each other we would not have enough kids to fill the weight classes. We are both in the process of rebuilding the programs, its a long process but we have the talent in the room to be a competitive team.
Good Luck to all the teams and we cant wait to get started.
Hackensack, NNJIL
THE TEAM RETURNS 11 WRESTLERS FROM LAST YEAR GROUP 4 SECTION 1 STATE RUNNER UP TEAM.
THE TEAM IS LED BY VETERANS JEREMY PIERCE, ANTHONY RACCIOPPI AND EDDIE SHELMAN. THE COMETS LOOK TO FILL A FEW OPENINGS WITH CAPABLE WRESTLERS . THE COMETS WON THE BERGEN COUNTY FRESHMAN TITLE LAST YEAR AND HAD ABOUT 50 JV WRESTLERS. THE JV TEAM WON 3 TOURMANENTS.
THE COMETS WILL CARRY ABOUT 70 WRESTLERS THIS YEAR.
THEY HAVE THERE SITE SET ON WINNING A LEAGUE TITLE AS WELL AS A GROUP 4 STATE TITLE.
